19 Months

Does anyone still read this blog? I forget to write in here, but I am trying to keep up with it so that Aimee can read it someday.

Aimee is now 19 months old. She weighs about 21½ pounds and is 30" tall. She's running around and talking. Her most used words/phrases are uh oh, oh no, what's that?, coco (Mike's parent's dog), yummy, yucky, no, yes, and fishies. She loves to dance, especially to The Wiggles. Her favourite food is cheese. She calls every dog Coco, even though she knows the word dog/doggy.

She loves to go to the park. It's finally warming up, so we can go more often.

I think basically everyone knows, but Aimee has some news.

She is going to be a big sister in 6 months. We are hoping this baby is a boy so we have one of each. I have a strong feeling that it is a boy. My anatomy ultrasound is May 30, so we should know after that. I can't wait to find out what we are having.

13 Months

  • Aimee is about 13½ months old.
  • She hasn't been officially weighed in a month but she's approximately 18 pounds and 28".
  • She loves to eat. She eats basically anything now. She does not like bread, but will eat pitas, tea biscuits, croissants, etc. Just not regular bread.
  • She likes to walk around the furniture or with her push toys and walk holding one of my fingers. Not walking alone yet, but it's just a matter of letting go of my finger. She's not using me to hold her up, she just doesn't want to let go yet.
  • I think we are done with bottles. She hasn't had a bottle since Monday. She gets milk during the day and with breakfast and lunch. For dinner, she has ½ apple juice ½ water and at bedtime she has toddler formula. The can is almost gone and I am not sure if I am going to buy another one.
  • She says mama, ada (for dada, sometimes she says dada), dog, doggie, uh oh, yeah. She doesn't know what yeah means but she says it if you ask her a question. She loves to say uh oh. A few days ago, she woke up from her nap and I heard her on the monitor saying "uh oh, uh oh mama." I was afraid to go upstairs and see what she did, but it was nothing.
  • She loves to play with dolls. If I say "give dolly a kiss" she will give the doll a kiss. She gives mommy kisses too.
  • Aimee is a great sleeper. She sleeps 12-13 hours overnight and 2-3 hours during the day. She likes her sleep, just like her mommy and daddy.
  • She loves to watch The Wiggles and dance and clap. She shakes her bum, it's adorable. (See video at the top)
We were playing outside a couple of days ago

This was her 1 year picture that I talked about in the previous post

We did a cake smash at the end of her birthday. The original plan was to do it outside but it rained so we just did it in the kitchen at my moms house. She mostly just kicked it.

One

Aimee is one today. That year flew by. We got her 1 year pictures done on the weekend, but we don't get them until the 14th.

  • She weighs approximately 17 pounds and is 27" long
  • We took her to the pediatrician last week, he said she is on track for her actual age. She is doing everything a 1 year old does aside from walking but not all babies walk by 1.
  • She eats 3 meals a day, has snacks and drinks cows milk now. She still has 1-2 bottles a day of vanilla toddler drink. The rest of the time she drinks from a straw cup.
  • Her favourite foods are chicken, pear/squash pouches from Walmart, potatoes and fruit.
  • She's cruising around the furniture a lot
  • She walks with her push toy or if someone is holding her hands.
  • She is not standing unassisted yet. Sometimes, she lets go of whatever she is holding onto and doesn't fall right away, but once she realizes she's standing alone she grabs onto the table/wall/toy/whatever she was holding
  • She has 2 teeth. She's been showing signs of more coming in, but so far she just has the 2 bottom front ones.
  • She says mama, dada and is trying to say a few more words. On the weekend, she said "oggy oggy oggy oggy" for about 20 minutes straight and quite a few times after that. I think she is trying to say doggy. It sounds like she says yeah, hi and bye sometimes.
  • She loves to watch and dance to The Wiggles.
We checked out the daycare last week. She played for about half an hour and loved it. I will feel comfortable with her being there. The ladies who work there all seem really nice and they couldn't believe that Aimee was 10 weeks early.

Aimee won first place in her age group at the Paris Fair on Monday

This was her costume for the special class "dress like a nursery rhyme"

She loves to open cupboards. Mike baby proofed them so now she is confused.

11 Months

Aimee will be 11 months old this weekend. I can't believe she is almost a year old. She's 8.5 months corrected age. Last week, she weighed 15 pounds 8 ounces and is 27" long.

  • She's crawling everywhere. Has been for about a month now.
  • She's pulling to stand. She's been doing it for a while, but not very often. The last week, she's really been pulling up a lot and on everything.
  • She can say mama. She babbles a LOT and is very talkative. So far, mama is the only real word.
  • She clapped for the first time on the weekend.
  • She likes to climb on everything and get into everything she can reach.
  • She loves food. Her favourites are yogurt, squash, pears and chicken. She loves the pear squash food from Walmart in the pouch, with the straw attached so she can suck it out.
  • She still drinks Similac Sensitive formula, but we are hoping to be off that soon. It's so expensive.
  • She sleeps from around 8:30pm until anywhere from 9-10am. Some days, she has a bottle around 7. She has 2 naps a day. From 11:30-12:30 and 3:30-5.
  • She went to the Cardiologist last week. She still has a murmur, but she doesn't have to go back until she is 3½ years old unless it starts to cause problems.
  • Last month, she went to the new ophthalmologist (since we moved) and she is ROP free. Her eyes are +3.50, but the doctor said that babies are naturally +3.00 so her eyes are basically fine. We should bring her to see a regular optometrist around the end of the year to see if that number has changed. She said if it gets worse, then she may need glasses but more than likely it will just get better. This ophthalmologist was really nice and answered our questions really well. When I mentioned that we didn't get good answers from our old one, she knew exactly who I was talking about.
  • Aimee is getting baptised on August 18. Her godmother is Steph and her godfather is Jordan.
  • Her birthday party is September 7. I can't believe I am going to have a 1 year old already. This year flew by.
I forgot to add yesterday when I wrote this that she has 2 teeth finally. The bottom 2 front ones. Didn't get her first one until over 10 months old.
This is her first dress from when she was about 6 pounds. Now it is on her doll.

Almost 7 Months

Does anyone still read this blog? If not, I am updating anyways so I will be able to look back and see how far she's come.

Aimee will be 7 months old in 2 days and is over 11 pounds and 23" long. Last week on Wednesday she was 11 pounds 3 ounces. She eats Similac sensitive formula, usually 4 ounces every 2-3 hours during the day. Around 20-25 oz on average in a day. She's not a big eater, but she's gaining weight and she's come a long way from being 2lb 2oz and eating 1ml every 2 hours.

Aimee can now roll front to back really well, back to front she just started doing 2 days ago on Easter. On Saturday, she stood up just holding onto a toy. She's got very strong legs for such a little girl. She isn't fully sitting up on her own yet, but she's getting there. She can do it for a few seconds. Maybe in the next 2-3 weeks she will get it. She's babbling like crazy and loves to play with her toys. Everything goes in her mouth. She likes to play in her Exersaucer and just yesterday turned the seat for the first time.

She sleeps in her crib now too. I put her to bed around 9pm and she sleeps most days until daddy gets up for work at 7:30, eats and goes back to sleep until between 9 and 10. Some days, she has a bottle between 4 and 5am.

She is FINALLY off sodium. It took 6 months. She went back on it for a month and after she stopped, we waited a week and took her for blood work and finally had normal levels.

She goes for her 3 month eye exam on April 11. Hopefully nothing has changed with that and then it will be 6 months and then once a year.

At 3 months corrected (so about a month and a half ago), she had her 3 month corrected neonatal follow-up. She was doing everything a 3 month old should be doing and more. In the last month and a half, she's done SO much more. She really does change every day.

She just woke up from her nap, so time to go get her.

4 Months Old

It's been a while since I wrote about what's going on with Aimee. She is now 19 weeks old, almost 9 weeks corrected. She is 7 pounds 12 ounces. Her weight gain slowed for a little while, but she has been gaining faster now. She was weighed on Friday and was 7 pounds 8 ounces so shes back to gaining faster now. Last week at the pediatrician, she hit all the 2 month milestones but not quite all of the 4 month. She's doing really good though.

Last Thursday, she had an ophthalmologist appointment and there is still no change with her eyes so now she doesn't have to go back for 3 months. She was going every week for a while, then every 2 weeks since she was 1 month old. If her eyes are still good after 3 months, then it will be 6 months and then once a year.

Aimee had low sodium for about 3 months. They finally were able to take her off sodium supplements in December. Her pediatrician wanted to send her to a Nephrologist just to check if there was a problem with her kidneys. She had an ultrasound on her kidneys and saw the Nephrologist on Friday. Her kidneys are working fine and they are a proper size. The doctor said they were probably just not matured enough when she was born since she was so early. No follow-up needed with the Nephrologist.

Today Aimee saw the Cardiologist. Aimee has an ASD (atrial septal defect) which is basically a hole in her heart. It's moderate sized, but it is still not affecting her in any way. They said they probably won't have to do anything for at least 3-4 years and it could possibly close on it's own. Same with her umbilical hernia, it should go away on it's own by 3-4 years.

Aimee went from looking like this at 3 days old (approx 2 pounds)

To this today at 19 weeks old. She's getting chubby. I love watching her grow.

6 Pounds

Just a quick update. Aimee is now 6 pounds 2 ounces. She's getting big. 4 more ounces until she has tripled her birth weight. She goes to the pediatrician weekly for weight checks.

Her sodium is low again so she has to take sodium by mouth 3x a day. She has to go for blood work on Saturday morning to see how her sodium levels are. I hope they are going up.

She continues to have eye appointments every 2 weeks. There still isn't any change so that is good.

Laying on her play mat. This is a 7 pound onesie and it is actually a little small on her.
